Abraham Lincoln and His America

*Note: listed event times may not be accurate

In this program, participants will join Princeton University Professor Dr. Allen Guelzo in a six-day discussion and analysis of Abraham Lincoln and His America. Abraham Lincoln is widely regarded as one of our greatest Presidents, alongside Washington. But what were the elements of that greatness? What political world did he inhabit, and what were the political values that guided him through his career as a lawyer, a lawmaker, and the nation’s principal figure in its greatest crisis, the Civil War? In this seminar, we will explore the shaping of Lincoln’s ideas, his reading, his law practice, his religious thought, and his political principles, and ask what example he sets to Americans today.
